Puglia’s 800‑kilometre coastline is a kaleidoscope of white‑cliff coves, powder‑soft arcs of sand and hidden swimming holes carved by the Adriatic and Ionian seas. Choosing “the best” is almost impossible, yet every season our community asks where to start. These are the five beaches we personally recommend – places that capture the region’s soul, each with its own rhythm and colour.

1. Baia dei Turchi (Otranto)
Why we love it: A crescent of talcum‑powder sand backed by a fragrant pine forest. Legend says Ottoman warriors landed here in the 15th century – today it’s a protected WWF area where the water flashes every shade of green and blue.

the temperature drop and smell wild rosemary before the beach appears.
2. Lama Monachile (Polignano a Mare)
Why we love it: An Instagram classic that lives up to the hype. Wedged between sheer limestone cliffs and medieval houses, this pebble cove offers cinematic dives and a front‑row seat on Polignano’s cliff‑top skyline.
Italy Is Now tip: For sunset, grab a table at one of the rooftop bars above the old bridge; the light turns the cliffs gold and the sea electric blue.
3. Torre San Giovanni (Ugento)
Why we love it: Caribbean‑like shallows, kilometres of fine white sand and a laid‑back vibe frequented by locals. The historic watch‑tower lends its name (and a dash of drama) to the scene.

4. Punta Prosciutto (Porto Cesareo)
Why we love it: Often compared to the Maldives: transparent, waist‑deep water that stretches forever, bordered by rolling dunes and fragrant macchia. Perfect for families and floating the day away.
Italy Is Now tip: Pack a mask – early morning the water is so clear you’ll spot tiny seahorses and shoals of silver fish just offshore.
5.Laghi Alimini (Otranto)
Why we love it: Two brackish lakes separated from the Adriatic by a long, windswept beach of golden sand and towering dunes. A paradise for kitesurfers, bird‑watchers and anyone seeking space.
